DeathlokOne of the long-running plotlines in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will come to fruition later this season, with confirmation from Jeph Loeb at the TCAs that the cyborg Deathlok will become part of the show.

The character was created in 1974 by Rich Buckler and Doug Moench, but there have been multiple incarnations of the cyborg – Colonel Luther Manning, John Kelly (whose version became Siege), Professor Michael Collins; and SHIELD agent Jack Truman.

On TV, Deathlok will be formed from J. August Richards’ character Mike Peterson, who was introduced in the series pilot. “We’ve been leaving breadcrumbs along the way,” Loeb said. “This is a major Marvel character appearing on TV, on film for the first time.”

Other Marvel characters appearing in the series will include Jaime Alexander’s Lady Sif from the Thor series, facing off against Elene Satine as Lorelei. Bill Paxton is joining the show as Agent John Garret, and Stan Lee will make a cameo appearance.
