Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is working on a follow-up to their successful Falling Skies TV SF drama with ABC picking up a pilot for The Visitors, based on the story “Zero Hour” by Ray Bradbury.
The pilot centres on a race against time to defeat an unseen alien menace which is out to destroy the world using “our most precious resource” against us. Bradbury’s story first appeared in the collection The Illustrated Man; children become involved in a game called “Invasion” little realising that it’s the cover for a real invasion by aliens.
The story was adapted for radio by Anthony Ellis in 1955 (the script can be read online here) and for television as part of The Ray Bradbury Hour in 1992 with Being Human (US)’s Katharine Isabelle as the little girl caught up in the game.
