In her first interview since the announcement that she would play Wonder Woman in the upcoming DC feature film which pits Ben Affleck’s Batman against Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, Israeli actress Gal Gadot has commented on criticisms that she is not the traditional shape for the Amazonian character.
“Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast,” she told the Israeli TV show Good Evening with Gai Pines (as translated by BatmanNews.com). “So, if I’d really go ‘by the book,’ it’d be problematic.”
Noting that bigger breasts could be bought for “nine thousand shekels”, she did promise that she would be in a lean shape for the movie. “It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regimen: Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, Jujutsu, Brazilian… 1001 things. I’ll gain body mass.”
The still officially untitled sequel to Man of Steel opens on July 17, 2015.
