French series Les Revenants – which aired as The Returned on Channel 4 in the UK on the US Sundance Channel – has won the Best Drama Series 2013 at the International Emmy Awards held on November 25th.
According to the official release, “A small mountain community is rocked to its core when several local people who are presumed dead suddenly reappear at their homes. Despite having passed away some years earlier, these ghostly characters appear in human form, they have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own fatality. Determined to reclaim their lives and start over, they slowly come to realize that they are not the only ones to have been brought back from the dead.”
The series, currently being remade for the A & E network in the States, won a global cult following, and a second season, which may answer of the outstanding questions, is being produced by Canal Plus.
Game of Thrones star Sean Bean also won an Emmy for his role as a cross-dressing teacher in the BBC series Accused.

What a gripping , original and totally absorbing experience it has been . Anything can happen in The Returned ; it leaves one`s imagination in overdrive….waiting for more , and more . Canal plus should be rightly proud of this magnificent show . And good for Channel Four for bringing it to England . I , and many of my friends are waiting for the second series with expectation and delight . Thank you .
