Twentieth Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have made a deal to produce The Bone Season, based on the best-selling novel by British author Samantha Shannon.
Deadline notes that “The deal was made with Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish’s The Imaginarium, which controlled the rights and will produce with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping.” In addition to working with them on The Bone Season, Fox has signed a first-look producing deal with The Imaginarium.
Shannon’s book is set in a future England where psychic powers are outlawed, and follows Paige Mahoney, a 19 year old dreamwalker, who discovers the unpalatable truth behind her society. It’s the first of a projected seven book series. Announcing the news on Twitter earlier today, she said she was “overwhelmed and delighted” by the news.
