According to a report at Deadline, yet another version of The Wizard of Oz is heading to TV screens shortly. After the announcement of Dorothy, the medical-based update from the Elementary team, comes news that NBC has bought Emerald City from Siberia writer and producer Matthew Arnold.

Described as “a dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones, drawing upon stories from Baum’s original 14 books”, Emerald City aims to capitalise on the interest surrounding The Wizard of Oz with the 75th anniversary of the Judy Garland film approaching. Arnold will write and executive produce the new drama through Universal Television.
