In addition to announcing that her network has given a second season order to Under the Dome, CBS boss Nina Tassler revealed that Stephen King himself will be penning the script for the opening episode of the new season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Under the Dome will return for a further 13 episodes next summer. The first season premiere was the most watched CBS summer launch since 2000 , and its highest rated since 2005.

Based on the blockbuster novel by King, Under the Dome follows the inhabitants of Chester’s Mill, Maine, after a huge dome encircles their town.
