Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has won an Emmy Award for his work on the Star Wars animated series, The Clone Wars.

The  Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program was presented at the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts held on June 14th. Tennant voiced the Jedi training droid Huyang. According to the Star Wars EU Cantina site, his character is “a droid who has assisted Jedi in the creation of their lightsabers for over a thousand generations and keeps a record of every lightsaber ever made”.

The series was cancelled as a direct result of the Disney buy out of Lucasfilm a few months ago.
