Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

HBO, home of Game of Thrones, is developing a sci-fi TV series called The Spark from Oblivion co-screenwriter Karl Gajdusek, whose most recent TV show was the sci-fi tinged ABC flop Last Resort.

Set in the future, the series explores the consequences on a world undergoing a technological revolution following the receipt of a signal from beyond the solar system. The female hero of the series attempts to discover the source of the signal, while other plot lines explore the human reaction to the signal and the spiritual fall out from its arrival. Gajdusek claims the series will explore what he calls the five pillars of science fiction: alien contact, artificial intelligence, space exploration, technological development and origin-of-mankind theories.
