The BBC has confirmed the internet rumour that has been spreading for the last few days that the final episode of series 7b will be The Name of the Doctor by Steven Moffat, directed by Saul Metzstein.
This may come as a relief to some fans who have been concerned that the ongoing story about the Doctor’s name – and the constant repetitions of “Doctor Who?” – would continue into the 50th anniversary special, currently filming with David Tennant, Billie Piper, Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.
The Name of the Doctor will air on Saturday May 18th on BBC One and BBC America.
