Carrie Fisher has been the first cast-member to unequivocally confirm she’s returning to Star Wars for Episode VII. Asked directly by Palm Beach Illustrated in the context of Star Wars: Episode VII “Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?”, Fisher simply answered “Yes”.
Fisher, the 56-year-old daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, offered her take on Leia in Episode VII: “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home … she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”
While there’s been no official announcements on casting from Lucasfilm or Disney sources, this is the first definite indication of any original Star Wars cast-members reprising their roles. Both Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill have said they are in talks, but have not confirmed their participation.
