The North American version of The Tomorrow People is rapidly becoming a reality, following confirmation that the green light has been given to a new pilot by the CW.

The update, by Arrow’s Greg Berlanti and The Vampire Diaries’ Julie Plec will be executive produced and scripted by Chuck’s Phil Klemmer. Deadline describes it as: “In the vein of X-Men and Heroes… the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.”

The most recent incarnation of The Tomorrow People on screen was twenty years ago, although Big Finish produced an ongoing series of audio adventures which concluded on a major cliffhanger. Details of the resolution of that story are apparently in the second volume of The Big Finish Companion out soon.
