Merlin 513Merlin star Colin Morgan has received recognition for his performance in the title role at the National Television Awards, presented on January 23rd.

“I’d just like to thank everyone who voted for me,” Morgan said on stage, “I just want to thank you for your support.”

“It’s been a five year journey for ourselves, so it’s a huge honour to end on a high after that and get the recognition from the fans,” Morgan told Radio Times backstage. He beat Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, Mrs Biggs’ Daniel Mays and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith for the Best Male Dramatic Actor Award.

Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan was beaten to Best Female Dramatioc Actor by Miranda Hart for her performance in Call the Midwife. The show came away empty handed, after being beaten by Downton Abbey for Best Drama.

Five years is a long time in anybody’s life, and the five years you’ve given to us have really made a difference in my life.   2. I am so happy that Colin is getting the recognition he deserves for his stellar acting on Merlin. I just want to say congratulations and well done.The Merlin/King Arthur story has been totally rewritten for me as I will always think of Colin Morgan and Bradley James in those roles.

    Hearing the Merlin theme song on the awards show actually made me quite homesick for my favorite TV show ever.

    Thank you Collin for giving us five years of your life.

  3. i cannot express how pleased I am for Colin. I am still smiling when I think about it. He really deserved this award. He is not only a brilliant actor who works extremely hard but also a genuinely nice guy. I am really looking forward to seeing him in Quirke and any other project that will come his way.
