Syfy has decided not to pick up a third season of Alphas.
“We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support,” the network said in a statement.
Star Azita Ghanizada posted to Twitter: “Sad to say that ALPHAS will not be returning. What an honor to get to play Rachel for 2years & to work w/ & for the MOST AMAZING PEOPLE EVER”. Colleagues Ryan Cartwright and Warren Christie confirmed the news, thanking fans for tuning in.
Co-created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, Alphas was showrun by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Ira Steven Behr in its first year, and Eureka’s Bruce Miller for its second. The show’s final episode, written by Miller, aired in the US in October gaining 1.17 million viewers, and finished on a cliffhanger which looks likely not to be resolved.
