007’s dominance of the British cinema at the end of last year is confirmed in the list for this year’s BAFTAs which was announced this morning (9th January).

Judi Dench is nominated for her powerful performance as M in the Best Supporting Actress category, while Javier Bardem’s psychotic Raul Silva gets a nod in the Best Supporting Actor. The film is up for contention in the Outstanding British Film section, against Anna Karenina, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Les Miserables and Seven Psychopaths.

It didn’t make the list of Best Films, which will be decided between Argo, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty.

Skyfall was also nominated for Best Original Music, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design and Best Sound.

The BAFTA awards will be announced on February 10th.
