According to reports posted around the internet following the press showing at Bad Robot headquarters in Los Angeles of the first nine minutes of the next Star Trek movie Into Darkness, various details have now been confirmed about the new movie.
TrekMovie confirms that Alice Eve is playing Dr Carol Marcus, portrayed by Bibi Besch in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. In the prime universe, Marcus was Kirk’s lover around 2260 (somewhere around the time that Into Darkness is set), and had a son, David, with him. Benedict Cumberbatch’s character is John Harrison, a name not familiar to Trek fans, although the screenwriters claimed that he is part of Trek canon.
Klingons will also be seen in the film, with scenes, including some seen in the “announcement” trailer last week, set on the Klingon homeworld. Scotty’s friend Keenser, last spotted perching in Engineering at the end of the first movie, is also returning.
