ST Into DarknessA few days before the trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness and the first nine minutes precede the first of the Hobbit films, an official new poster has been released for next summer’s movie.

Although there have been some doubts that the official synopsis released a few days ago was accurate, the imagery in this would seem to confirm that there is devastation on a massive scale in the alternate timeline set up by the 2009 film – as fans know, unless the rules are somehow changed for this film (i.e. there’s some line about “this will affect the whole of the multiverse, Jim…”) the prime timeline seen in the other 726 hours of Star Trek is unaffected!

Star Trek Into Darkness opens in May 2013.
