Larry Hagman, who played Major Tony Nelson in the 1960s fantasy sitcom I Dream of Jeannie, has died aged 81.
Hagman, who became most famous for playing the oil magnate J.R. Ewing on Dallas, had a successful stage career before moving to television. I Dream of Jeannie ran from 1965 to 1970, although Hagman didn’t appear in the revival movies. His other genre credits included directing Beware! The Blob in 1972 and the original Superman: The Movie in 1978.
