While promoting his new CBBC show Wizards vs Aliens (read our review of episode 1 here) Torchwood creator Russell T Davies has confirmed that there are no current plans for a new series of the Doctor Who spin-off.
Speaking on the Graham Norton radio show, Davies said that the show was not officially cancelled, but “it’s in a nice limbo where it can stew – those shows can come back in ten, twenty years time.” He said that he had enjoyed working on the Starz/BBC Miracle Day ten-part version of Torchwood, but circumstances had meant he had to return to the UK, where he is now concentrating on Wizards vs Aliens.
The most recent continuation of the saga was Exodus Code, written by series star John Barrowman and his sister Carole, which has received a mixed reception from fans.
In another recent interview he said he would not be returning to the USA and he was looking for a UK station to sell his new domestic drama to-so lots of mixed messages-coming out but still nothing official from the BB??
Sorry, not sure what the mixed message here is. He’s not going to be working on more Torchwood according to the interview. Torchwood isn’t an ongoing project – it was a special co-production for Miracle Day, so why would they comment?
