The CW has given a script commitment to yet another potential TV incarnation of Wonder Woman.
Amazon will show Diana as a young Amazonian woman, before she becomes the warrior princess with super powers that we know from the comic books, a conceit they succesfully used for ten years of Superman adventures in Smallville. The O.C.‘s Allan Heinberg is scripting the pilot, although he has yet to indicate which version of the various origin stories this will be following.
The most recent attempt to bring Wonder Woman to the small screen came from David E. Kelley, whose version starred Adrianne Palicki as Diana Themyscira, a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles. Knight Rider‘s Justin Bruening played love interest Steve Trevor with Elizabeth Hurley as the villainous Veronica Cale. Although a pilot was produced, NBC opted not to broadcast it
