Spartacus creator and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight is returning to the science fiction genre with Incursion, a new series for Torchwood: Miracle Day co-producers Starz.
“Steven DeKnight has an overall deal with Starz, and he just returned from Hawaii where he shot a proof of concept piece,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said at the Television Critics of America tour this week. “It’s not a pilot. It’s just a scene or two for a show that he’s developed, that we are very high on.”
Incursion, described as “Band of Brothers meets Halo” is “incredibly ambitious, and it involves a lot of creature work and things like that,” Albrecht said. “But Steven is a sensational writer – he certainly is as good as anybody that I’ve met at being able to write for premium television.”
The series will mark DeKnight’s return to the SF and fantasy genre – he previously worked on Buffy, Angel and Smallville as well as Dollhouse.
