Len Wiseman has been tapped as director on Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman’s new version of the classic tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

According to Deadline, the pilot follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. Kurtzman and Orci will pen the script with the originator of the concept, Phillip Iscove. The series will be made by 20th Century Fox TV and K/O Paper Projects, the writers’ production company based at Fox.

Washington Irving’s original short story has inspired numerous adaptations, most notably Tim Burton’s 1999 movie starring Johnny Depp. An update, The Hollow, was produced as a TV movie by ABC in 2004.
