According to a report at Deadline today, Steven Spielberg is eyeing Thor star Chris Hemsworth for the lead in his movie version of Daniel H. Wilson’s Robopocalypse, which is set to open in April 2014.

The novel, about a robot uprising and the many different ways in which humanity deals with it, has been adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard, who directed Hemsworth in Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods before his career went stratospheric with the release of the Marvel movie. No firm offer has apparently been made or accepted, but this would give Hemsworth a foot in multiple franchises – he also appeared as Jim Kirk’s father, George, at the start of the 2009 Star Trek movie.
