American Horror Story, the hit psychodrama from last season has tied for first place with Mad Men with 17 Emmy nominations, announced earlier today. Game of Thrones is nominated in 11 categories; Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead have three apiece; Futurama two; Falling Skies, Grimm, and Person of Interest have one.

Categorised as a Miniseries for the purposes of the Awards, American Horror Story‘s nominations include Outstanding Miniseries; Outstanding Lead Actress for Connie Britton’s Vivien Harmon; both Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy for Outstanding Supporting Actress; Dennis O’Hare as Outstanding Supporting Actor as well as multiple technical categories.

Game of Thrones is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series with Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion as potential Outstanding Supporting Actor.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences  64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on September 23. A full list of nominations can be found here.
