After she leaves the TARDIS in a few weeks’ time, Doctor Who star Karen Gillan is staying within the fantasy genre for one of her next projects, the horror movie Oculus.

The Intrepid Pictures film starts shooting in Alabama this autumn. According to their press release, the plot begins 10 years after a horrifying family incident left two young children orphans. Although authorities charged the brother with murder, his sister, Kaylie, believed that the true culprit was a haunted antique mirror. Now rehabilitated and in his twenties, the brother is ready to move on but Kaylie is determined to prove that the mirror was responsible for destroying their family.

Gillan’s final five episodes as Amy Pond are expected to start airing early in the Autumn.
