Hampton Fancher, the co-writer of the original 1982 Blade Runner movie, is in discussions to return 30 years later to work on Ridley Scott’s sequel to the iconic movie.

The new Blade Runner will apparently follow on from the first film, but not focus on Harrison Ford’s character Rick Deckard. The original movie was based on Philip K. Dick’s story “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” and various sequels to both Dick’s tale and the film have appeared in print during the past 30 years.

As well as Blade Runner, Fancher wrote The Mighty Quinn for Denzel Washington, and The Minus Man, which he directed in 1999.
