The long wait between James Bond movies seems to be a thing of the past once more, with Sony confirming that the 24th film in the series based on the novels by Ian Fleming will be released in 2014.

Speaking at CinemaCon, Sony’s President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer said that the “follow-up to Skyfall” would be appearing in two years’ time. Star Daniel Craig has already said that he wants to “keep going until they tell me to stop”, and preliminary reaction to the teaser trailer for Skyfall, which will accompany the release of Men in Black 3 in May, has been overwhelmingly positive.

The literary Bond also continues to thrive, with author William Boyd the latest to pick up the pen for an official continuation of the series. He has already stated that he will be returning Bond to the Cold War era, as if Fleming had continued writing the books into the late 1960s, rather than following on from Jeffrey Deaver’s updating of the character for his recent contribution to the range.
