Following the announcement of a new Sabrina the Teenage Witch animated series last year, Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures are working on a new cinematic adventure for the Archie Comics character.
The script by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will apparently be an origin story, with Sabrina’s black cat, Salem, becoming “a transformed prince creating unique love stories for Sabrina”. Real Steel producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford are producing the project, which is being fast tracked at Sony.
Sabrina debuted in 1962 and has appeared in various different Archie Comics over the years. The comic has spawned three separate animated series, as well as the live-action sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart that ran for seven years.
