Could both Terra Nova (already cancelled, with star Jason O’Mara signed up for a new show already) and The River (now on ‘death watch’) be saved from single season runs by rental site Netflix?

Netflix is increasingly moving into original production having already picked up the comedy series Arrested Development (dropped by Fox in 2006) for a new season in 2013, as well as new in-development series such as Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove and David Fincher’s House of Cards remake.

Netflix is in negotiation with ABC over carrying their content, including the possibility of new episodes of The River, while discussions to extend Terra Nova continue.
