Following the unofficial release of photos from the filming of the second Star Trek movie, star Zoe Saldana revealed J.J. Abrams’s reaction to MTV News.

“J.J. was very upset,” she said at the Independent Spirit Awards. “I have to say that. It’s not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it’s such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise.”

Speaking at the Oscar ceremony, Zachary Quinto pointed out that they had been filming the scene for five days, noting that “We’re on incredibly big set pieces in the middle of somewhere and people sort of got wind of it….

“The picture leaking did not go over so well,” he told IFC. “They go to great lengths to preserve security.”

The as yet untitled Star Trek sequel opens May 17, 2013.
