Lana Lang is going to the big city, as Smallville star Kristin Kreuk steps into the role of Catherine in the CW’s update of the classic 1980s TV series Beauty and the Beast.

More details of the project have now emerged. Kreuk will play a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.

Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper have written the pilot script, which is being directed by Gary Fleder.

  1. NO! Making this show over would be a mistake. The original was done so beautifully and it cannot be replaced. Which would happen if this show would be remade.
