IDW has now confirmed the story that broke late last week with details of the official crossover between Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who: Assimilation²

Launching in May, the eight issue series will feature the Borg and the Cybermen as they create an unholy alliance resulting in potential disaster for all humanity. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise find themselves joining forces with the 11th Doctor and his companions, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance.

The book will be written by the Tipton brothers, assisted by Doctor Who comic strip writer Tony Lee, with fully painted artwork by J.K. Woodward. The variant cover, which can be seen here, features the Doctor, Rory and Amy on the Enterprise bridge.
