The last few days have seen multiple reports that original Blade Runner star Harrison Ford is in negotiations to appear or star in Ridley Scott’s return to that universe, currently in pre-production. Alcon Entertainment have now rigorously denied that this is the case.
“It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in Blade Runner,” Alcon’s Andrew Kosove told Deadline.com. “To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we’re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it. The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment.”
Although Kosove agreed that once the story was broken, it was possible Ford might be involved, he emphasised that “I think it is quite unlikely.” He compared the process with Scott’s work on Prometheus, where “he created something that has some association to the original Alien, but lives on its own as a standalone movie.”
