In their search for a superhero show to replace the recently finished Smallville, the CW are close to giving a pilot order to Arrow, an adaptation of the DC comics character Green Arrow.

Written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow places the familiar character of Oliver Queen in a new environment, not connected to his appearances in Smallville, or on a story seen in the comic book.

According to Deadline, Smallville pilot director David Nutter is interested in helming the opening segment.
