According to various online reports, Benicio del Toro is no longer involved with J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel after negotiations broke down a few weeks before filming is due to begin.

Del Toro was expected to play the villain in the movie (a role that Abrams denies is Khan Noonien Singh, as seen in the second original feature), but Vulture states that the parties parted company over financial issues last week. Could it be that Peter Weller has been cast in the role that del Toro was originally going to play?
