Following an interview given by prospective Doctor Who movie director David Yates to MTV that suggested that a different actor would be cast as the Doctor in a new film, the BBC Wales series’ head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has issued a tweet setting out the official position.

“To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot,” he said earlier today.

Moffat and the BBC Wales team are preparing for filming to begin again early next year for the seventh series.
