X-Men and Superman Returns director Bryan Singer will executive produce and direct the pilot of Bryan Fuller’s reboot of The Munsters for NBC.

According to the report at Deadline, Singer has monitored the project, and has now signed up to helm the opening hour. In addition to his feature film work, he also directed the pilot for House.

The new version’s description has also been released: “Grandpa Sam Dracula is essentially Dracula who assembled Herman because no man was good enough for his daughter Lily, a sexy vamp. Lily’s niece  Marilyn the freak is actually normal, and Lily and Herman’s only child, Eddie, has his werewolf tendencies surface in puberty, forcing the family to relocate to their famous 1313 Mockingbird Lane address.”
