Current Doctor Who head writer Steven Moffat has issued a tweet, apparently in response to the recent news that Harry Potter director David Yates is working on a film version of Doctor Who which will be completely separate from the TV series.

“Announcing my personal moonshot, starting from scratch. No money, no plan, no help from NASA. But I know where the moon is – I’ve seen it.”

The BBC’s official response to the news on their Facebook page was: “There’s been a lot of talk today about the possibility of a Doctor Who movie – a feature film remains in development with BBC Worldwide Productions in Los Angeles. But, as of yet there is no script, cast or production crew in place.”
