Production plans on Alcatraz, J.J. Abrams’ second new series for this season, have been altered, after it was decided to reshoot various scenes for the seven episodes already filmed.

According to the report at Deadline, “the series will stay in production, doing additional principal photography on previous episodes before proceeding with filming the remaining 6 episodes of the series’ 13-episode order.” The time travel drama is set to begin mid-season, so there is not as much pressure on the producers as there would be if it had started airing at the start of the TV year.

Abrams’ other new show, Persons of Interest, has been picked up for a second season, while Fringe is not performing as well in the ratings as might be hoped, making chances of a fifth season unlikely.
