The US Art Directors Guild has decided to honour the creative team behind the art production on the blockbuster Harry Potter film series during their 16th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards to be held next February.
The honorary Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award has previously been given to individuals including Terry Gilliam, Steven Spielberg, Frank Oz and George Lucas; this is the first time an entire team has been recognised. “Their phenomenal success is due to a unity of vision and the masterful wizardry of the franchise’s creator, producers, screenwriter and art direction family,” said ADG President Thomas A. Walsh.
The Award will be given on February 4 to the series’ creator and author J.K. Rowling; producers David Heyman and David Barron; David Yates, who directed the final four films; screenwriter Steve Kloves; art director Neil Lamont; production designer Stuart Craig; and set decorator Stephenie McMillan.
