Chris Carter, the brains behind the creation of The X-Files, Millennium and Harsh Realm, is working on his first new TV series in nearly a decade.

His latest project, Unique, is a “female-led” police thriller with a supernatural element, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Carter will write and executive produce the series which is currently set up at Media Rights Capital. No network is yet directly involved, although all of Carter’s other series started life on Fox.

Carter’s most recent project is Fencewalker, which he has written and directed. According to X-Files star Gillian Anderson, there is also a possibility of a third X-Files film in 2012.
