Speaking exclusively to Sci-Fi Bulletin, Primeval‘s co-creator Adrian Hodges has confirmed that the new series going into production for Omni and Space in Canada will not be the total reboot that the original press release seemed to indicate.

Emphasising that he couldn’t go into much detail, “because Omni and Space are very sensitive about any of the information coming from us rather than them,” Hodges said that “the Canadians are going to do their own thing, and we will be watching that with interest.” Discussing the pilot script which he read and commented on, he noted: “Obviously it’s starting a new story with new characters, but it certainly runs concurrently. What it doesn’t do is break any of the mythology, or change any of that. It may not refer to it necessarily but it is a universe in which it would be absolutely appropriate for one of the cast of the other show to turn up.”

The full interview, which includes more information on the status of a sixth series featuring the UK cast, can be read here.
