X-Men: First Class and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be going head to head in multiple categories at the sixth annual Scream Awards for which voting is now open at scream.spike.com
Each film received 14 nominations, including The Ultimate Scream, Best Fantasy Movie, Best Director, and Best Scream-play. Two other Marvel Comics franchises joined X-Men: First Class to round out the top four, with Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor receiving 11 and nine nominations, respectively.
In the television category, Best TV show will be decided between Doctor Who, Fringe, Game of Thrones, True Blood and The Walking Dead, with Matt Smith also nominated for Best Science Fiction Actor (against Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Harrison Ford and Jake Gyllenhaal) and Karen Gillan up for Best Science Fiction Actress, competing with Hayley Atwell, Milla Jojovich, Anna Torv and Olivia Wilde. Game of Thrones and True Blood each tallied seven nominations, with The Walking Dead eligible for six awards.
The nominees were chosen by a panel comprising Alexandre Aja, Damon Lindelof, Darren Aronofsky, David Slade, D J Caruso, Edgar Wright, Eli Roth, George A. Romero, James Manos jr, John Carpenter, Matthew Vaughn, Neil Gaiman, Rob Zombie, Robert Rodriguez, Roland Emmerich, Tim Burton, Tim Kring and Wes Craven.
The award ceremony will take place on October 15, and broadcast on Spike TV on October 18.
