Any story about Anthony Hopkins’ new role is bound to refer to his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs – but this time, the Oscar-winning actor is on the other side of the prison bars.
According to Variety, in New Line’s new thriller Solace, Hopkins will play John Clancy, “a former doctor with psychic abilities who works for the FBI and is drawn into a unique serial killer case that pits him against a formidable foe.” The script was originally written by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin, with Zodiac‘s James Vanderbilt, and recently Peter Morgan taking further passes at it.
Hopkins was recently seen as the All-Father Odin in Thor and is playing an exorcist in The Rite.
