Move over Indiana Jones – Jack West is on the way. The rugged hero of Australian novelist Matthew Reilly’s series of novels is heading to ABC in a new series called The Seven Wonders, adapted by North Country‘s Michael Seitzman and producer Mark Gordon.

Jack West Jr. first appeared in Reilly’s novel Seven Ancient Wonders and subsequently encountered The Six Sacred Stones and The Five Greatest Warriors . According to Deadline.com, the initial 13 episode season of the TV series will be based on the first two books, which sees commando-turned-archaeologist West chase around the world seeking the pieces of the capstone of the Great Pyramid of Giza which were divided among the Seven Wonders of the World by Alexander the Great. West has an eclectic team to assist him, including his 12-year-old adopted daughter, his former college professor and crack soldiers from both the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

Seitzman said that the stories “feel like big boyhood and girlhood adventure stories; they are really fun and remind me of all the movies in the genre I loved.”
