According to a tweet from Australian breakfast show host Kylie Speer, there could be a third X-Files film heading into cinemas as soon as next year.
The Sunrise host interviewed Gillian Anderson, who played Dana Scully in the long-running TV series, at the promotional party for her latest film, Johnny English Reborn, then posted a tweet stating: “Just interviewed Gillian Anderson…she is super stunning in real life and said she hopes a new #X-Files 2012 movie will be out next year!”
Although this would mean that a film would need to enter production shortly, it would make sense within the X-Files’ mythology: December 22, 2012 is the date that the alien invasion is set to begin…
