Dave Semel, who helmed the pilots for both Heroes and No Ordinary Family, will be directing all 13 episodes of Fox TV’s Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, the follow-up to Carl Sagan’s groundbreaking 1980 TV series Cosmos.

Semel, who is also directing Zachary Quinto’s debut episodes on FX’s American Horror Story, will join Seth McFarlane, Sagan’s widow Ann Druyan, and Mitchell Cannold as executive producer on the series, Deadline reports, which is going to receive an IMAX release on top of its airings on Fox and the National Geographic Channel in the US beginning in 2013.
