The latest Battlestar Galactica prequel, Blood and Chrome, may not get a television airing after all, according to a report at AOL TV.
The pilot, which follows William Adama as he leaves the Academy and goes into battle against the Cylons, was written by Michael Taylor, and was originally designed to be an internet project. Following the cancellation of Caprica, Syfy did seem keen to capitalise on the Galactica brand, and it did appear as if Blood and Chrome would air as a backdoor pilot for a full series.
However, AOL’s Maureen Ryan says that she was told at Comic-Con by Syfy’s Mark Stern that the channel’s executives had seen a rough cut, minus many of the backgrounds and other effects, and were now “weighing” which way to release it. No word as yet from Syfy whether a decision has been reached in the subsequent month.
