Eric Kripke is working on a fresh supernatural drama for the CW, based on Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino’s character Boston Brand, aka Deadman.

The Supernatural creator, who now acts as executive producer for the show, was previously working on a version of DC’s Sandman character, but has now switched his attention to the former trapeze artist, who can possess any living body in order to bring about justice.

Created in 1967, Deadman is best known for a series of adventures created by Jack Miller and the legendary Neal Adams. He has appeared in the Batman animated series The Brave and the Bold, voiced by Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum. A live action film was worked on by Guillermo del Toro and as a TNT TV series, but neither project came to fruition.

No date has yet been set for filming the pilot.
