Impossible Pictures has confirmed to Sci-Fi Bulletin that the fifth series of Primeval will not be heading to BBC America until next year.

There had been speculation that the final six episodes from the batch filmed in Dublin during 2010 would air later this year, but it had yet to appear on the broadcaster’s schedule, with the concluding episodes of Doctor Who‘s sixth season, and the Sky series Bedlam already pencilled in.

Asked about a broadcast date for the fifth series, an Impossible Pictures spokesman could not confirm an exact date, but stated it would be “early 2012” – which would make it around the same time as the airing of the episodes on the ITV network in the UK. As soon as a date is confirmed, we will pass it along.
